Pathfinder 2500 Vs Blackjack 256

'As a professional fishing guide, I've owned a number of boats, but the BlackJack 256 is my all-time favorite! The layout allows for great room, so even with four clients onboard no one is crowded. The waters I fish are inland saltwater and flats, and accessing shallow waters is never an issue. Clients and fellow captains are always amazed about the skinny, shallow waters we can access in my BlackJack 256.'

  • Top tier doesnt always mean its that much better of a boat. But the price tag will be substantially higher. Recently looked at shearwater 26, was 90K. Having said that top: shearwater, yellowfin, contender, blackjack high quality: ranger, blazer bay, champion good boats for the money: pathfinder, blue wave, nautic star thats my 2 cents.

And because the 2500 Hybrid is vacuum infused, there’s no 25 foot bay boat with a better strength to weight ratio. That’s why with all its features and capabilities it still only drafts a true 13.5 inches, runs upwards of 60 mph, and jumps on plane in water too shallow for some flats boats.

'BlackJack is truly a great dry ride and takes the rough water better than any other bay boat I have ridden in. The BlackJack gets me to the big fish no matter the weather, keeping me and my customers dry. Their comfort with a smooth ride keeps me focused on what I'm here for: Leading them to the big one.'

Capt. D. Goyen
Victoria, Texas

'The ride is fantastic. It's dry and maneuvers in open water and close quarters like no other outboard. Because we fish a lot in North Carolina, its ability to plane quickly and stay on plane at slow speeds gives us an edge crossing wide, sometime choppy expanses of rough water to get to skinny water areas to fish. The layout is terrific. Good dry storage. Nice illuminated live wells. Plenty of rod storage. Easy to move around the boat. The fit and finish is at the top of the class. I get excited every time I run this boat and cannot imagine not having a BlackJack for fishing and just overall fun on the water.'

T. Young
Smithfield, North Carolina

'I've been guiding for 25 years in the coastal marshes of south Louisiana. I've been guiding out of BlackJack boats the last 13, and there is not a finer boat on the market. You won't see me guiding out of any other boat!'

Capt. N. Roberts IV
Metairie, Louisiana

'BlackJacks are made with backcountry and near-shore fishing in mind. These boats ride better than many larger offshore boats I've owned. They hold the water like they’re on rails, and also float and run extremely shallow for a boat of their stature. I tell people that ride is everything, and you should always take a test ride in less than ideal conditions before purchasing. I always say if you test ride a BlackJack today, you'll be listing your boat tomorrow.'

Capt. T. Godwin
Naples, Florida

“You’ll never ride a drier boat. After 20 years on the water, that is one thing that stands out above all. My BlackJack keeps me dry in conditions where most boats would have my customers soaked.”

Capt. J. LeVine
Charleston, South Carolina

“The stunningly beautiful lines of the BlackJack first caught my eye, and then I was blown away by its performance — especially in rough water.”

Pathfinder 2500 Hybrid Reviews

Pathfinder 2500 Hybrid Reviews Much has changed since the Bay ship first came on the scene. The demand for a “Jack-of-all-trades” boat LED boat builders to design increasingly larger, more seaworthy boats with higher gunwales, plenty of storage space and seating for the whole family.

Pathfinder, a leader in the boat-Bay revolution, has achieved tremendous success by embracing such a trend; However, his latest model, the 2500 hybrid, places more than one bonus on hardcore fishing and on the nearby coast, embracing the essentials that makes a bay boat, well, a bay boat.

With its roominess, console seat, leaning pole for two, and collapsible jump seats on both sill corners, this pioneer still accommodates a team of four or five, but is the useful layout and abundance of fishing features that P Ropulsaran to the front of the package.

To begin with, the 2500 hybrid incorporates recessed hardware for unhooked fishing, and is pre-assembled for a 36 volt, arc-mount trolling engine, a necessity for any Real bay boat. At the stern of the Anchorage Locker, three large lockable compartments are hidden beneath the front cast iron cover, providing ample dry storage for the gear, and twin racks to hold a couple of rods to the port and other Starboard pair.

A step between the bow and front cockpit houses a 43 gallon fish box long enough to make ice on the big fish or the cobia, and can be plumb with a pump and a macerator. Between the pass and the console, a closet on the drained deck keeps its hand-cast network but tucked out of the way.

Four on-board built-in bike racks come standard, and the vertical frames on both sides of the center console hold a combination of eight ready-to-action rods. At the front of the console, a food and beverage refrigerator is folded as a seat, and a split door allows access to the nickel-tinned wiring harness inside and a battery compartment with clear plexiglass cover.

While its footprint leaves plenty of space to move without Encumbered, the console has the property to accommodate a 12-inch multi-function display, the Yamaha Command Link calibrator, the waterproof switch panel with switches, Trim tab Switches and VHF radio on the board plus the standard 12 volt accessory connector, USB charging connector, compass on top and low rudder footrest.

A hydraulic jack plate with blinker-style switch under the steering wheel, horizontal bar castings for two equipments under each Gunwale, raw-and fresh water washes in opposite cockpit corners, and a boarding scale are also Standard problem.

Pathfinder offers two options for rudder seats, both with tackle storage. One includes premium-tipped seats and an extended tackle center, while the other offers a tilted post configuration with a bench seat, removable backrest, tackle drawer and large LiveWell with display window.

The test boat had the optional Hardtop with electronics box, spreader lights and aft storage cupboard, but a tower with a second rudder station is another alternative.

Other key options include hydraulic or assisted steering, trimming tabs, an 8-or 10-foot power pole, air well recirculating and aeration systems, and vertical racks for carrying six additional rods on the hard cover And another four in the back of the rudder seats.

Our test boat, warned SKIP Lyshon of conquerors ‘ boats, still needed a small prop tweaking, but despite the propeller stealing the F300 of a few rpm, the hybrid got on the plane within 100 feet, a distance that we cut almost to the Half with clipping tabs down and Jack plate up. The acceleration and the desired elevator were there, so leaving a flat when the tide gets a little too low will not be a problem.

According to Yamaha performance data, the 2500 exceeds 58 mph (we reach 57 mph without reaching maximum RPM). and running at 3,500 RPM offers the highest range — 3.8 MPG — while navigating to a comfortable 35.6 mph. Although the sea conditions during the test did not push the Pathfinder near its limits, it is safe to say that the new Hull is a winner. It was dry, fast and maneuverable with an impressive turning radius and a firm retention in tight turns. So bring those winding swamps and streams.

Backwards, the boat turned out well in both directions. And as expected, it was shown stable adrift and stabilized. Having experienced its performance and carefully inspected the boat’s fit and finish and many features, I highly recommend fishermen looking for a superlative, non-absurd bay boat taking the 2500 hybrid for a spin.
