Chief Tsosie Upper Antelope Slot Canyon
We didn’t do too much research on which company to book with, and ended up picking Chief Tsosie Antelope Slot Canyon Tours. Due to a tight schedule, we had to sign up for the regular 1.5 hour scenic tour in the afternoon for a cost of $48 per person. After checking in at Chief Tsosie’s Antelope Slot Canyon Tours in downtown Page, AZ, you’ll be transported by custom touring vehicle to the mouth of Upper Antelope Canyon. The 2-mile ride in from the Navajo Tribal Park Entrance on US98 can get pretty exciting, so hold onto your hat!

Guided Tour to Upper Antelope Canyon – Chief Tsosie’s guides know all the hot spots and they will guide you through an amazing natural wonder of Antelope Canyon. They will provide you with the secret knowledge of photographing the beams and dance with the sand. We will have little chance to be alone in the canyon on this tour, nor will we be able to hear the quiet that some of the other tour-times provide, but this tour is a photographic extravaganza. We believe we have the best time starting at 10:30am for photographing the canyon. We get the early development of the light beams and stay until the beams start to lift off the canyon floor. This tour is lead with precision and experience.

10:30am (peak hour)- This is the prime sunbeam tour. The colors are fairly uniform throughout the canyon and visibility is good. If some of the colors are not as brilliant, be assured that at their worst, they are spectacular. We linger at the sunbeams which pour down like heavenly messages. We will have little chance to be alone in the canyon on this tour, nor will we be able to hear the quite that some of the other tour-times provide, but this is a visual extravaganza. Sunbeam comes in from April 1 – Sept 30.
So after visiting the Lower Antelope Slot Canyons in the morning, we had a quick lunch and proceeded to the next tour of the Lower Slot Canyons! Both are located in Page, AZ very nearby one another. This one we booked through Chief Tsosie’s tours: http://www.antelopeslotcanyon.com/about_us/chief.html

This was a really cool tour. It cost about $37, and we met up at the tour group building. Then after a really cool authentic ring dance, we got in the back of a truck and headed out to the site! It was a bumpy bumpy fun ride on the road and then on the dirt roads. This canyon is a lot colder than the Lower Canyons. It also felt darker inside, even though it was Upper.
If you look into the lighter part of this picture above, you can see a bear. Our tour guide was a lot of fun and pointed out all the cool shots and even helped with taking them! Also, this canyon is a lot more open inside and was a lot less packed with people.
